So I just got back from Tropical (too early! i know! not my fault!),
and it was quite the shit. I'd write a real review later, but it would just
be me saying "Damn. That was the shit." a whole bunch of times. And who really needs that much profanity.

Anyway. At one point I was just leaning against a pillar and bopping
my hands around, all resting-like, and some girl came up to me and said "Would you be in our picture?" And put me and like four other people in front of her camera.

Was that you? Because I'd love to see that picture, as well as get
the name of the girl that was standing next to me, because I was too much of a dumbass to ask her myself.

Okay wait, I can't resist. &E was the shit, Lisa Nelson was the
shit, DJ Drüe was the shit, John Kelley was the shit, and of course, Jenny W was the absolute shittiest. And you know I mean that in the good way. So so so much better than Mixer, both physically and aurally.

Word to your moms, I came to drop bombs,

Hey all you partE kidZ!

This was one of the best partEs I have been to in a long time.
There was a wonderful vibe and everyone there was so incredibly nice.  The two guys who had the "fuzzE" hearts were awesome.  If you didn't get hugged by them, you missed out.  The music was awesome, all the Djs did great.  The visuals were fantastic.  The movie/picture projector was a fabulous idea.

To all the wonderful people I met last night, thanks for making my night all that much more fantastic!  And incase you don't remember me, I was the girl with lots of candE and a fuzzE black tank top with two stars on the front!

Welly, welly, well!! Hello kidz...are we out and about enjoying this
fine sunshiny Seattle day?? I most certainly hope so!  I'm about to head
out there myself...I've been dodging incoming Freshman checkin out dorms over here at U myself...ugh...I was in my towel and a tour group came through my cluster!!! *blush*

Anyvays- here is my review for da tropics last nite-
I arrived about 11:30...just in time to catch DJ Drew.  He wasn't
really getting my thing movin, so I wandered and found all me UDUB buds and various other kiddies I love to huggles on.  Chelsee and Lael looked smashing, per usual, and I was glad to see someone else in a dress besides myself!! (btw Laelly, your paintings were absolutely gorgeous- the fishies were my favorite).

I wipped out my camera and my inflatable citra palm tree...and not
more then an hour of having it blown up (tanks chelsee dear) and placed in a nice spot, I wandered around the same vincinity, and no tree!!! I was hoping that some little E-kiddie had dragged it off to squeeze, but it really is gone.  I'm very depressed about it- so are my clustermates because that tree has been through some good times (mostly various schnockering fests...heehee).  I don't care who has it or why, but I really really would like it returned.  I won't ask questions- I
won't be upset.  I just would like to see my lovely tree back in my cluster again.E-mail me privvy if you kidz know anything about this!  Thank you :)

LAter I helped myself to some yum pineapple, grapes, and oranges.
Patty darling you were so cute back there serving everyone!!  *tickle*
Then...the awesomest part of the nite...Lisa NElson!!!!! Ahhhh!!!  I
was in heaven...completely...oh dearest Brook I would give my first born for a copy of your tape...pretty please with sugar on top?

The rest of the nite was spent visiting, watching gorgeous dancers,
snapping many pictures, every now and then letting a beat hit me
right...I was seriously disappointed with John Kelley's set tho...i was
expected that to go off..oh well.  DJ Brad ended it up with some AWESOME beats...mmmm...needless to say I left with a good feeling.
I was glad to see all you kidz again, I'm not sure what I'm up to
tonite. If you happen to see me at something or other (inertia labs
perhaps), come up n say hi! Maybe I'll snap a pic of your lovely face! Thanks for the great nite... Erin, Jenny, nice job my pretty pretties.  As per usual I'm hella tired and ready to go nap in the sun.  Take care my pretty babies!

bye bye and snuggles,
~~Roberta~~ ;)

Wow..... . .  .   .    .uhm..Wow...
I'de have to say that was one of my favorite parties i've
been to in about a year.  I met some cool new people, saw some unexpected show ups from buddies of mine and fell into about a 3hour trance session with Dr.Vibe. I must have been floatin' around for hours.
Hey, did nE one see that guy with all the japanese getup
on... he looked really cool. I especially liked his lil' cocktail umbrella.  I
don't know too many people in the seattle scene so if I ever describe
you, jes' let me know, k?

Monki, Jamie, Anne and Alexis... thanks for yer love last
night(especially too alexis and Anne).  It was good to talk, touch and
meet new people. See ya soon. I 'll try an make it to Inertia Labs
tonight, I like what I've heard of the line up.

btw...If nE of you are wonderin' who I am...Well, I was the guy at
Tropical, wearin' a Lavalava under a beige grass skirt with a green
bamboo leaf shirt on(looks like canibus  from a distance) and two
glowy lei's. I have chin length blonde hair and was doin' some tribal
dances to most of those longer phat beat sets.

LotsaLuv-

Damn that was a good party.

Many, many auditory delights.

Got there in time to catch about 30-50 minutes of Drue's set and the
atmosphere was already steamy.  The temperature was quite "tropical".
Could've used a couple of fans up front.

Having the light on in the hall was a bit strange - walk through the door
and *bam* you're not in Kansas anymore dorothy - but it was also kind of refreshing...a bit of a reality check.

Met many more cool "little marshmallow birds" last night; ya know who you are. :::waving:::

John Kelley was gooood; even better then the last time I saw him at
Nuclear Family....and that track he played with the mega mega
(whiteboy) build up....damn I love that track (it is one of my favourites on my PvD - Live @ the Love Parade tape...now if only I had that tape back so I could check out the track listing **hint*hint** Chris???   *hehe*).

Brad and Mr Annand kept the flow going in the main room.....

Didn't get to check out the small room very much but caught a couple
groove-waves the few moments I spent in there.

I've never seen so many Hawaiian shirts at a party before!  It was
very cool!  More parties with "themes" and where people are highly
encouraged to not dress the "norm", p.l.e.a.s.e!  :)

All in all I was really glad to be a part of such a spectacular
event.

See some of you at Inertia Labs tonight??
(now we don't *need* a presale ticket do we....I haven't gotten one
yet?)

All I can say is "WOW!"

I haven't had this much fun at 2424 since River Styx, and this is
going up there in my book as one of the best raves I've ever been to!

The music was phat, although I can't remember who was spinning
when.  I was really impressed with John Kelly and Mr Annand, and a special thanks to &E for working your usual magic!  Oh, whoever spun at the end [DJ Brad] that was great!

It was great to see some familiar faces, although I'm still not the
social buttefly I should be.  In case you don't know who I was, I was
wearing a really loud orange and blue Hawaiian shirt (really from Hawaii, too!), tons of candy and a blue hat.  There are some really cool shots of my  back on groovy groovy's pics page if your interested (but you can't see my face in any of them - oh darn).

NEWay, kiddies - I'm off to do other things.  Hope to see everyone
at Flux
tonite!

So... YE-HAH!!! Can I get a "oo-WA, oo-WA"!!! Tropical was fun times forthe whole family!!! Jenny, girl... First Eye Candy, then this... You gowith your bad self! Strut OK?

I got there a little later than I woulda liked (around 12:45 I think),
and both John Kelley and Lisa Nelson were on!!! D'OH!!! Both of the
Dj's that I really wanted to see... playing at the same time!?!?
So after brief investigation, I determined that Lisa had it
going on, and I stayed in the small room for most of her set (an example of local outdoing out of town people I thought). It was kinda weird though, JohnKelley didn't seem to be playing at all the same kind of stuff that he was at Eye Candy (disappointment eyebrow raising)... it was a lot less"pretty" sounding, bit more minimal. Am I correct in saying this (I wasn't there for too long)? But yeah, Lisa rocked the house!!!

This party was grrrreat for me because I have been listening to SOOOOOOOOO much jungle in the last month or so, that I thought I was gonna spew drum rolls and rap samples everywhere... so I was just like "FUNKY-HOUSE; SALVATION"!!!

The visuals were real cool, the people were real nice (even
to the infamous "Sam Keel", as they explained to me I now am :P), and the atmosphere was certainly "tropical" indeed... pant-pant-pant...

It died down a little quick all the sudden though (the little
room closing... confused eyebrow raising)... I was wondering what that was for.

Anyhow, it went off the hook! Fun Fun Fun! Nice to meet all
yall kiddies!!! That was about as cool of a party possible with no jungle
to speak of!!!:P

what a gorgeous event!  thank you, thank you, thank you healthy
productions for bringing this beautiful event to seattle!

it was nice to get to hear some _good_ house music.  i'm not the
house fiend i used to be, but still really get into it when it's quality music/mixing.   in the back room, i was very very impressed with lisa nelson's set!  she was spinning some really jazzy funky house which i love.  even my jungle-lovin' friends who came with me really got into it!

incredible visuals provided by the dandelion collective in the main
room; i think that there was a projection on every wall!  the music
was great -- i loved how the dj's made their music *fit* the
visuals/stage in the journey.  it was truly a multimedia journey to
the tropics.

the POCAAN people were great.  much fun & freebies at the info table!

free fruit/water was a nice touch.  thanks to erin riley (lainne)
for providing the fruit!

i think it was sarah who mentioned how great it is when parties
really have a _THEME_.  i agree; i love how the tropical theme was
really woven into this event -- everything about it was tropical...
right down to the heat/humidity that very nearly simulated being in
an actual tropical rainforest.  *grin*

my tropical review  :)

two awesome events in a row for healthy productions eye candy and
then tropical.

*thank-you jenny*

i guess was mainly drawn to the main room spent almost my whole time
there - i was most impressed with mr. annand's set becuase it was closest to the harder banging style of tribal/hard house - although it wasn't easily categorized- i got to talk with him abit and aksed him about the etheral track he did coming out of a tribal track (and of course i can't remember the name now) but he said that was his favorite record

topher did an amazing job of visual mixing throughout the night - especially the transition with that track because it shifted gears to an astronuat looking down at the earth - perfect visual fit....

the theme aspect as lael and others mentioned really added to this
event as well as the fact that many folx donated time and effort for a
benefit cause

but there is another key aspect that i had agreement on from folx i
talked to on and off throughout the event --- the ratio of dancers to nondancers was remarkable!!! most of the people in the room were dancing hard throughout most of the night and that is key to a party - no doubt about it and if there is a lack in many seattle parties (not just seattle btw) its because of this reason the ratio of dancers to nondancers (a subtle distinction here is that in my book anyone still intently focusing all their energy on the music even if they're just bobing their head is still dancing)

i didn't get to erik's party but it sounded that that dancing force
was in full effect - or quite strong - there as well...and actually that was another reason why eye candy was so good - the energy of all the people was very much focused - focused on the synergy of sound and light....

so quite a few reviews this weekend have pointed to some bright spots
