Tropical was fun, aside from the 100+ degree temps. I
gained much respect for Heather, I thought her selection and mixing were very nice.
Probably woulden't attend another party at that location, too hot w/ no outdoor
patio. Didn't let it ruin the groove though. All in all a fun time.

Well first off I must start by saying the night was very tropical indeed,
ESPECIALLY the temperature...but what can you do? It's important to remain realistic about
logistics like that. All and all I had a great time and I saw more than a few familiar
faces, quite a few from this list. The party seemed like a flashback to how things used to
be a few years ago, truth be told I haven't been to a Tropical since the very first one.
I came to hear good house tracks, and I was not disappointed. The location was nice and
intimate, please allow me to take a chance to extend my deepest appreciation to all those
who took a shower before the party. Brad (12-2) tore the roof off the house..."off
the hook" is I guess what the cool kids are saying these days (wink). I'd be very
curious to know how some of you felt about his set, considering I hear so many complaints
about house dj's playing "too hard". I personally love that deep percussive
funk. By the looks of the dance floor I think it is obvious that my sentiments were
shared.
Dean DeCosta has a smoov as hell style and very clean mixing skills. The track
selection was good, very mature...I was thinking it might have gone over better at a later
hour. Sometimes it can be difficult to pull off some of the more minimal tracks earlier in
the night...especially because a lot of people are looking for beats that kind of
jumpstart the evening.
Unfortunately the combination of the heat and the moderate lifestyle that I have become
so much accustomed to persuaded us to leave at 2. No doubt in my mind that Heather wrecked
shop, likewise for Mr. Annand.
Ladies and Gentleman, a round of applause to our host Ben for a wonderful evening.

can we say dj heather is my goddess?!!! she totally rocked the
tables last nite!! the venue was hot as f*ck, but i still wanted to dance my ass
off!! the guy that was spinning in the smaller room upstairs was really good, too.
does anyone know who that guy was? dean decosta's set was too mellow for me
and brad's set was a good set up for heather's.
sorry i missed ur set, ben. the heat was making me dizzy.
thanks for throwing such a good party.

i got there around 12:30 and people were jumping
all over the place. i managed to drop something on the steps outside before i went in and
was bumming for the first 20 minutes or so but then saw elena and managed to forget about.
brad was cookin' and people were rockin'. good scene. i soon had a big smile on my face.
except i wasn't realizing how hot the place was until ben mentioned it.(you know the small
room upstairs? it actually got cooler in there later in the night...much cooler than
downstairs) then jessica mentioned it. i saw heather come in through the side entrance and
she looked like she was gonna pass out as soon as she walked in....i only stayed until
3;45 so i missed mr. annand but the party was hella fun! besides the ventilation, the
place was terribly dirty. i got home and saw mud all over my shoes and pants. how did that
happen?hello to everyone i saw again and met last night. carmela, etherla, tribeism,
desmond, tania, jessica, and of course ben and elena. always a blast to party with you
guys!

you know, every time i go to one of ben's parties i always mean to post hearty thanks
to the list, but i'm always so cracked out (from having so much fun, of course) that i
never get around to it. so thanks times ten for yet another quality, quality time...
...with one or two teeny exceptions, the music, crowd, venue, security, etc. were
excellente. this is the kind of party i will always reccommend to the people i work
with to save them from the error of their candytrance ways.
see y'all at the next tropical fer sure!!!

party, just a little bit too hot. and i couldn't find the smoothies anywhere. i was only
there for about an hour of brad and an hour of heather and they both rocked.

Hmmm....where to begin, where to begin?
Looks like this is gonna be a long one, almost reminiscent of the reviews put up by
techtraum a while back....
First off, I had been looking forward to this party for a while now....Its kicking off
a month full of nice intimate house parties....and besides that its a tropical...nuff
said!
The party sure did meet my expectations....and actually to me the heat sorta went with the
party....there's sometihng incredibly sultry about sweating through every pore of your
body dancing to some wonderfully sexy house music that makes you melt...and opening your
eyes to find a venue full of others doing the same...that said...
the music was incredible....i had never seen heather before, but
she really worked us...I think she definitely lived and surpassed all her hype, I missed
dean decosta's set, but brad and ben as always had a wonderful track selection and they
knew what the dancers wanted...the brad, heather ben set worked beautifully
together....great cohesion...I understand there was a room upstairs, but I could not tear
myself from the main dancefloor....its what I've been looking for a while...
Overall one of the best parties I've ever been to.....woo hoo!!!!! I loved it!!!!

HOT
that word completely and sufficiently describes saturday night on every conceivable
level
there is the obvious reference to temperature, which i am positive exceeded 100 degrees
fahrenheit
take it a step further and you have the people: jumping and shaking ... and smiling -
but not in a cute friendly way - in the way you do after you've had a most incredible
orgasm .... you know, that devilish "that was REALLY good" grin?
drenched in sweat and water, both from spray bottles and the ceiling which was
literally raining condensation...
the music - pounding, hard and dubby...deep percussion driven house ... the latter half
of brad's set was like house heroin jammed in my jugular with a turkey baster-sized
needle: i could not, no matter what, stop dancing ... near the point of exhaustion,
dangerously close to heat stroke, delightfully next to euphoria
heather, possibly suffering from the same sensory overload had some trouble with her
mixes at first - but with impeccable musical programming and some really fresh new sounds,
she could do no wrong
when i left at 3am, my body was so flooded with endorphins i had to sit and do nothing
for 20 minutes with a blanket around me ... finally, my brain felt like it fit in my skull
once more and my muscles relaxed enough that i could drive home

HOT HOT HOT! but a good hot i thought. not the kind that burns you up and
dehydrates you out but one that just makes you completely drenched and adds a little
flavor to party. the party was different than what i'm used to since it was all house but
still a good time either way. it made me want to listen closer than i usually do rather
than dance and go off in my little world. kinda muddy in certain places but it was a cool
small venue and i loved the people who went around squirting water all over the place. |

Saturday Tropical was off the hook. It is always nice to walk into a
club and just see the floor bouncing as if it were one entity. People were hanging
off the balcony, dancing in the halls, and behind the speakers. I caught the very
last of Brad's set and was pleased to hear what he was playing. In fact I didn't
even know that heather had gone on so it was a good transition. But heather man that
girl can bang.
This party really made me feel like I was 20 again. what a great
underground feel. I was sweaty, shirt off, dancing my non existent ass off.
Good job Ben!!!

you didnt care if it was hot cause the house music was bangin dj heather spun a sick ass
set, sometimes groovy to give the crowd a breath then banging to get them screaming. i
left a little before her set ended and was drenched got kinda chilly walking back to the
car hahaha...but a fun one room all house party (oh yeah!!!) cant wait for dynagroove...

"Wow!" All I can say is "Wow!"
I got in around 11:30 p.m. and just started with my usual bumpin' into friends and
such. You know, "Oh..hey! You're here! I was gonna call you!" That routine. =)
In the beginning, I thought the music upstairs was much better. The music downstairs
was very slow and almost put me to sleep. Upstairs was disco-house type music.
Well...I was having a good time just socializing and dancing to good house music. And
it was good...
But they kept letting people in. And hence, the temperature began the inevitable rise
to compete with the surface of the sun. Yes...it was VERY hot in there. Why they didn't
open any doors, I don't know.
Well, fast forward to the good part: when DJ Heather came on. Now, keep in mind, the
house music was already good up to this point. But when Heather came on, the quality was
noticeably better. Maybe it was just me, but no matter how hot it was, I could not keep
from dancing for long. Heather's mix was just inspiring...you HAD to move your body. She
blew me away. That was some of the BEST house music I have ever heard. Everyone has
different tastes, styles, and facets of house they like...her house fit mine pretty
perfectly. And it was nice and loud! I was one happy camper.
The party was good. When DJ Heather came on, the party became orgasmic! After she
finished, the party went back to good. I got tired. I left around 5:00 a.m...an hour
before they closed.
What a great party. I had mucho fun.

Amazing! I came away from that party feeling so good even with the heat and walls
poring sweat! (it was sick) I was just worried for some of my friends who werent used to
going to parties. I got used to fanning them and ended up fanning half the party!
So great to see so many people I knew! (preston I missed you so much I coulda hugged
you to death!) Most of all it was great to have us "roommates" back togetehr
again! Love ya KP.
I was upstairs to witness the massages and they were FULL body! The guy and girl took
breaks from time to time to go down and dance and spray water. I think most people just
didnt look upstairs or were too shy to ask. And the smoothies, well I dunno what happened
there but around 130-2 people busted into the jucie and it was good! |
